Great design but...
I'm a trim carpenter and depend on my tools to be reliable, this gun was not. I liked the design of the gun, I liked that the nails wouldn't jam, but it wouldn't set a nail. I was nailing up a peice of crown and the very first nail it left hanging out about an 1/8 inch. I even thought it was the air compressor and bought a new one and the gun did the same thing. It didn't matter if it were 1 or 2 inch nails in soft or hard wood, it would set a few then miss one then set a few then miss one. This gun might be ok for the do it yourself guy but I wouldn't recommend it.

Bosch Quality
I went had a Porter Cable, Senco, Stanley, Bostich Crown stapler who all only lasted about 6 months. I then bought a Bosch which was about a year ago!! I now was able to buy the brad nailer and used it on a big kitchen installation. What a precision tool! I run a cabinet and countertop workshop and I love quality tools... Bosch is right up there!

Not worth the money.
I was excited about the possibilities of these new nailers so I bought both the 18 and 16 gauge nailers. Neither is capable of sinking nails completely. I tried increasing the air pressure to nearly 120 psi, tried different compressors and even switched hoses. Thanks goodness I tested them before using them on finished work! I am so disappointed with both purchases and can't believe unproven and unreliable technology is being released. Frustrated to have to send both back. Buy another brand.

New tool at Recon price
Tool appeared to be new since a quick-connect air fitting (not included, purchased separately)was not installed.

When I first used the tool, the driver blade became stuck in the extended position. I manually returned the driver blade several times and continued to operate the tool. It seemed that when oil circulated to the required places this problem was resolved. Tool works perfectly now.

I often recommend to friends that they purchase reconditioned tools since in my experience they are indistinguishable from new.

One great product
Once again Bosh doesn't let me down on quality. I am a homeowner that repairs and make my own wood products. I stay with buying Bosch products because I have yet to turn one in for repairs. I have a lot of Bosch tools too. I hope too never have to replace them.

Awesome Nailer!
This is my first nailer and was not sure what guage would be best but I think for a starter gun it was the right choice. I have used the nailer for about two weeks and so far it has performed as advertised; it is powerful and easy to load, it feels well made. The nails (usually 1 1/2 to 2 inches) will go countersink with the right pressure but you may need to adjust depending on the wood. Also, I found that I needed to hold the gun firmly in place if not the nail would not fully set, when that happens I sometimes see around an 1/8 of an inch but this is quickly remedied by holding the gun firm. Overall, CPO delivered the unit in a few days and it arrived in good shape (box). This is my first nailer and I was not sure what guage would be best but I think for a starter gun it was the right choice. So far no issues, I have really enjoyed experimenting with it. I have built a few items with no jams, this nailer will soon take on more projects, I will have another review then.

I am just starting out so bear with me. What type of bosch nailer should I get to install 4" crown molding?
Radardude on Mar 21, 2013
BEST ANSWER: There are two nailers recommended for use on crown molding. Models: FNS250-16-16gauge 2-1/2" straight finish nailer, or FNA250-15 - 15gauge angled finish nailer.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
