Owned a lower end Skil, and I really hated to use it. It was loud and shook like crazy. I thought there was no way this could be so quiet or vibration free. This thing is refined for a jigsaw. It is built tough and it just screams (quietly) quality. Don't waste your money on the cheaper models.

After debating on this jigsaw vs others, mainly because of price, I finally decided to purchase this one because of the great reviews it had from others. I needed to replace a very old & tired jigsaw I had for 15+ years. When I received it, I tested it out in a number of different ways on scrap wood and stuff I had sitting around. What an awesome tool. It feels good in your hands, its not too loud, the precision is GREAT, and I kept thinking of the projects I will be using this with. Its so easy to use, so smooth. My old jigsaw was a jalopy. The Bosch is like the best car you never get to drive. Put yourself in the driver's seat and get this and their blades!

Used this first to cut away studs for a closet project. Cuts thru wood like butter. This jig saw was rated tops by most reviewers. Steady and does not vibrate out of your hand. Love the quick insert and release for the blade. Worth the price. Bosch does it right with this one. Great accessories included and has a stack-able case. Extra long cord does away with a need for extensions most of the time.

This is a great saw. I specifically had to track down this model, because I appreciate it's accuracy of cut. The blade guides help you stay dead on the mark.
I purchased the top handle saw because I cut a wide variety of materials, from plastics and wood to sheet steel and aluminum. (It gets used in an electric sign shop.)
I personally favor the barrel grip jigsaws, but I chose the top handle in this case because I find it easier to use in areas with difficult or awkward access.
I love this saw, and it is my go-to if I can't use a cnc router.
In comparison the Dewalt version feels a bit stouter in the hands, but in my opinion, I think they build them that way for people who are constantly dropping or don't know how to properly handle a tool.
If you can take fair care of a tool, this is the saw to buy.

This is a great saw to use, has great dust-collection features, smooth cuts and easy to use. One of the reasons that I bought this saw was the zero-clearance insert, which works great...but I can't find anywhere to purchase replacements. I really consider the zero-clearance to be a "consumable", same as blades, but I can't find them anywhere locally, or online. After contacting Bosch, they offered to send me "one" for free, but I really would like a 5-pack that I can buy online or from a local retailer. The saw is great, but unfortunately this is a bit of a deal breaker, I may end up selling this on [@] and picking up a Festool instead (I can get packs of Festool zero-clearance locally and online).

I think it should have an interlock for the power button for safety (similar to other hand-held power saws) otherwise it is perfect. It is a high end saw with a price to boot but it is well worth it IMHO ... do not buy cheap because you'll only use it a few times a year, buy the best you can afford!

Used the first time building trusses and worked great dressing gussets in hard to reach or confined areas. Strong and quick cuts. Blade changing a snap. Easy to move from metal to wood. I really enjoyed using the tool.

I replaced my 40 year old Craftsman jig/scroll saw because I could not get a replacement switch. I did a lot of research to determine which saw would serve my needs the best. I am very pleased with the Bosch saw in every way. I have used the saw to make some intricate cuts and cuts on a variety of materials. I can tell that this is going to be a great saw that will serve me well for a long time. I like the case design as well. I am one who likes tool cases for when I take my tools on the road. It keeps the tool protected and the blades all in one spot.
